Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026. We have kept these terms in plain language on purpose - if a software company needs forty pages of terms for a dealership tool, that tells you something.

The service

LotRanger is a dealership management system provided by Lot Ranger Inc. of Peterborough, Ontario. The LotRanger software is owned by Electric Ink Innovations Inc. and licensed to Lot Ranger Inc. Your dealership gets access to the core system and any optional power tools you choose to add.

Free trial

New dealerships can use the full system free for 60 days with no obligation. No payment details are required to start, and the trial does not convert into charges automatically without your knowledge.

Pricing and billing

The core system is priced by the vehicle, by the week: a $2.95 fee when a vehicle is added, then a weekly fee based on active inventory (as low as $0.90 per vehicle per week; dealerships with 5 vehicles or less pay $8.00 per week). Optional power tools are billed monthly at their listed rates. There are no long-term contracts - billing follows your inventory, and you can stop using the service at any time.

Your data is yours

Everything your dealership enters - inventory, customers, deals, photos, documents - belongs to your dealership. If you leave LotRanger, you can request a copy of your data and we will provide it in a usable format. We do not charge exit fees and we do not hold data hostage.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your account credentials secure and accurate.
  • Ensure the information you enter and publish (including vehicle listings and advertising) is accurate.
  • Comply with the laws and regulations that apply to your business. LotRanger provides tools that support compliant workflows - for example OMVIC-compliant bill of sale preparation - but the dealership remains responsible for its own regulatory obligations.
  • Use the system only for legitimate dealership business.

Availability and support

We work to keep LotRanger available and fast, and we maintain the system actively. Like any online service, we cannot promise uninterrupted availability. Support is provided from Peterborough, Ontario, by the people who build the system.

Limitation of liability

LotRanger is a tool that supports your business decisions; it does not make them. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lot Ranger Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Ending the service

You can stop using LotRanger at any time. We may suspend or end service for non-payment or misuse, with reasonable notice where practical. Either way, your data remains available to you as described above.

Changes

If we change these terms, we will post the update here and note the date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to active dealerships.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.
